Anesthesia and surgery are perhaps the most critical and important aspect of any Veterinary facility. At Springfield Veterinary Center we take this challenge very seriously. All anesthetic and surgical patients are required to have thorough physical examinations the day of their procedure as well as compulsory pre-operative bloodwork. Patients under general anesthesia receive IV fluids for maintenance of blood pressure and renal health. All patients are monitored with EKG and pulseoximetry; end tidal CO2, and blood pressure.. The latest in inhalant and induction anesthetics including Sevoflourine and Isoflourine are used. All of our patients are individually monitored post-operatively by a licensed Veterinary Technician until they are fully awake and able to walk. This reduces the risk of recovery complications. |
| Pain management is essential to the well-being and post-operative comfort of our patients. All surgical patients receive multimodal pre and post operative pain management. See additional information on pain management in the section below. |

Quality of Life is a primary goal
of the staff at Springfield Veterinary Center. Pain relief and
management both perioperatively, and chronically is critical to this
end. To benefit the patients of Springfield Veterinary Center, Drs.
Escobar and Scotti are members of the International Veterinary
Association of Pain Management (IVAPM), an international organization of both veterinary
anesthesiologists, and general practitioners conferring and sharing the
latest techniques in providing appropriate pain management in veterinary
patients. |
|
At Springfield Veterinary Center we provide dental cleanings, evaluations and extractions as well as preventative maintenance. Full anesthetic precautions and protocols are followed (see surgical anesthetic procedures). At every dental cleaning and polishing full periodontal evaluations are done. |
